In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Jamey Carroll attempted to score from second base on an Omar Vizquel single. He was thrown out at home, though, with Fleetwood's Chris Iannetta glad to finally be on the GOOD end of a thrown-out runner at the plate!
Meanwhile, the young Zack Greinke cruised through 7 scoreless innings, allowing just 6 hits and zero walks. With a 5-run lead, Fleetwood turned to Jose Veras to mop things up.Veras did a great job in the 8th, allowing just one single. In the 9th, though, he struggled. He walked Josh Hamilton and Manny Ramirez to lead off the inning. After retiring Aramis Ramirez on a groundout, Kevin Millar game through with a 2-run double. Mike Jacobs following that hit with an RBI single, and the game was suddenly 5-3 with the tying run at the plate.
Fleetwood turned to B.J. Ryan to face Ivan Rodriguez, but Los Angeles countered with lefty-masher Ronnie Belliard. Luckily for Ryan, though, he was able to induce a double-play groundout, and the game ended with a 5-3 score.

In a two run game the Fleetwood Walkers got by the Los Angeles Tigers by the
score of 5 to 3.
Los Angeles fell behind quickly as the Fleetwood offense came through in the
first inning scoring 4 runners on 4 hits. That early scoring was all that
Zack Greinke(5-0) needed. Los Angeles made it exciting in the 9th, but they
were unable to push the needed runs across.
B.J. Ryan recorded his 3rd save. Chris Volstad(3-3) was tagged with the loss.
Despite losing Jim Budzyn was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over
this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one
