Smarting from a 4-game sweep at Fleetwood, the Malibu Flames were happy to come home. They proved in right away, plating 4 runs in the 1st inning. Among the scoring were home runs from Gary Sheffield and Pedro Feliz, knocking Fleetwood's Chad Billingsley from the game before the 1st inning was over.Fleetwood would tighten the game in the 4th and 5th innings with an RBI single from Ryan Doumit and a solo home run by Nick Markakis. With Heath Bell (2.1 innings) and Manny Corpas (3 innings) shutting out Malibu, it appeared the Walkers might pick up a comeback win.
Hong-Chih Kuo surrendered a run in the 7th, though, when David Wright committed a 2-out, 2-base error. Although Fleetwood then scored 3 runs in the 8th, Malibu answered right back with 2 runs in the bottom of the same inning.
That put the score at 7-5 in favor of the Flames, which is how the game would end. Feliz was Malibu's star on this day, ending the day 2-4 with a double, a home run, and 3 rbi.

In a two run game the Malibu Flames got by the Fleetwood Walkers by the score
of 7 to 5.
Malibu had the winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs utilizing 3 base
hits. After an out was recorded, Jack Cust began things off when he cracked
a solo homerun (his 4th of the season). Nick Swisher stepped up next and he
doubled. Pedro Feliz then doubled. Hideki Matsui got his chance to keep
things going, but he went down on strikes. Mike Napoli stepped into the box
and was walked intentionally. Malibu rapped out 10 hits for the night.
The win went to Jose Valverde(1-1) who allowed 1 run in 1 and 1/3 innings.
