In the 6th inning, Aramis Ramirez hit a 2-out HR to give Haren one more insurance run. He hardly needed it, though, allowing only 2 hits and 0 walks through seven innings.In the 8th, Fleetwood finally threatened to score with back-to-back one-out walks from Jim Edmonds and pinch-hitter Rafael Furcal. Los Angeles Jim Budzyn then made the tough call, summoning right-handed reliever Geoff Geary into the game.
Fleetwood used another pinch-hitter in Nick Markakis, but he could only hit a flyout. Another pinch-hitter came up next, but Ryan Doumit could not summon his usual late-inning heroics. Instead, he grounded out to end the threat.
Los Angeles loaded the bases off Fleetwood reliever J.P. Howell in the 9th, but Howell struck out Ivan Rodriguez and then picked up another out on a force play at the plate. Fleetwood then called on Heath Bell to face Kosuke Fukudome, and Bell picked up a key strikeout. That kept the Walkers within 2 runs heading into the bottom of the 9th inning.
Geary remained sharp, though, retiring the first two batters easily. Miguel Cabrera brought the tying run to the plate with a long single, but Carlos Beltran could only muster a flyout. Haren and Geary had combined for a three-hit shutout, the first time Fleetwood was held scoreless in 2009.

Dan Haren had a strong outing and Aramis Ramirez jacked one out of the
ballyard as the Los Angeles Tigers defeated the Fleetwood Walkers 2 to 0 at
John Locke Field.
Haren(2-3) was very good in the win. He allowed only 2 hits and 2 walks in 7
and 1/3 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.62 to 4.02. Fleetwood was out-hit
by Los Angeles, 7 hits to 3.
Geoff Geary recorded the save, his 7th. Ervin Santana(5-3) suffered the loss.
Despite losing, he struckout 12 Los Angeles batters in 8 innings.
