Halfway through its July schedule, Fleetwood had thus far gone 11-3. The Walkers hoped to continue this success against the Glen Allen Mets.
Scoreless through 5 innings, Glen Allen drew first blood in the 6th. The Mets scored twice, first on an RBI single by Jose Molina and then on a sacrifice fly by Royce Clayton. Fleetwood bounced back one inning later, scoring 4 runs on a Ramon Castro RBI single and a Bobby Crosby 3-run homer.Derrick Turnbow entered the game in the 9th to close things out. However, Jose Castillo had a different idea in mind when he hit a 2-run blast off Turnbow to tie the game 4-4. Glen Allen nearly scored another run in the 9th, but Turnbow escaped without allowing further damage.
Neither team scored in the 10th, but Fleetwood earned an extra-inning victory in the 11th when Marcus Giles delivered a game-winning RBI single. Miguel Cabrera and Jim Edmonds had set up Giles with a walk and a double respectively.Fleetwood's Arthur Rhodes earned the victory with two perfect innings, while Mike Gonzalez took the loss for Glen Allen.
