Still reeling from its sweep at the hands of the Toledo Mudhens, the Fleetwood Walkers began a 3-game homestand versus the Santa Barbara Outlaws. Although Toledo posted the best April record in BRASSball (23-5), Santa Barbara 's 18-10 April record proved it was no slouch either.Chad Tracy gave the Outlaws an early lead by depositing an A.J. Burnett pitch over the fence for a 2-run homer. Burnett would later surrender a solo home run to Luis Gonzalez, but those three runs were all Fleetwood would allow on the day.
However, those three runs were just enough for Santa Barbara's Freddy Garcia. He allowed just 2 runs in 7.1 innings before handing the game over to his bullpen. Justin Duchscherer and Todd Jones collected the last 5 outs easily, and the game belonged to Santa Barbara.
