First baseman Derrek Lee touched them all and had 4 RBI as the Fleetwood
Walkers beat the Glen Allen Mets by a score of 10 to 5.
The Fleetwood fans enjoyed the offense provided by Lee. He doubled which
plated a run in the 1st inning, laced a base-hit in the 4th inning and belted
a three-run homer (his 1st of the season) in the 6th inning. Fleetwood
out-hit Glen Allen for the game, 16 hits to 13.
A.J. Burnett(1-0) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory.
Burnett got help from Derrick Turnbow who earned his 1st save. Chris

In a dramatic ending at John Locke Field the Fleetwood Walkers won in their
last at-bat beating the Glen Allen Mets by the count of 3 to 2.
The game was won by Fleetwood with a run in the 9th inning. Miguel Cabrera
smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 1st of the season) making Fleetwood
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Fleetwood won despite
being out-hit by Glen Allen 8 hits to 5.
Kelvim Escobar(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. John Smoltz(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 5 hits and 3
walks in 8 innings.

The Fleetwood Walkers toppled the Glen Allen Mets in 11 innings by a 7 to 3
score at Camden Yards.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Finally, Fleetwood pulled the game out in
the 11th inning. The key at-bat was by Miguel Cabrera who deflated the mood
of the partisan fans when he laced a one-base hit scoring two baserunners.
Fleetwood finished with 9 hits in the victory.
The victory went to Derrick Turnbow(1-0) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs.
Barry Zito(0-1) ended up with the loss. He allowed 4 homeruns in 10 innings
of work.

Chris Carpenter struck out 10 batters and first baseman Albert Pujols had 3
base hits at Camden Yards where the Glen Allen Mets beat the Fleetwood
Walkers in 10 innings by the score of 3 to 2.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Glen Allen won the hard fought contest in
the 10th inning. Jason Lane lined a base-hit. After an out was recorded,
Damian Miller came to the plate and was hit by a pitch. Trot Nixon then drew
a walk to load the bases. Royce Clayton followed and he drew a walk giving
Glen Allen the victory and sending the 40,140 home-town fans home happy.
Glen Allen rapped out 9 hits for the night.
Carpenter(1-1), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Kelvim
Escobar(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.
Rube Foster was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you
see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling

Right fielder Jason Lane had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Glen Allen Mets
outscored the Fleetwood Walkers 4 to 2.
Glen Allen took the lead for good in the 3rd inning with 2 runs utilizing 2
base hits. After an out was recorded, Royce Clayton got things going when he
ripped a base-knock. Juan Pierre came next and he drew a walk. Robinson
Cano then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Sean Casey was up next and he
delivered a base-hit driving home two runs. Fleetwood made it exciting in
the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
The victory was credited to John Smoltz(1-1) who went 8 innings, allowing 2
runs. Smoltz got help from Roberto Hernandez who was credited with his 1st
save. Esteban Loaiza(0-1) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 2 runs
and 4 hits in 4 and 2/3 innings.
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Smoltz, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'

Mark Buehrle tossed a complete game shutout as the Fleetwood Walkers
man-handled the Glen Allen Mets - the final score was 10 to 0.
Buehrle(1-0) was in control of the game from the outset. He allowed only 6
hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Fleetwood had 13 hits for the night.
The losing pitcher was Barry Zito(0-2). He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits
and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
