The Walkers scored two quick runs on a early homer by Miguel Cabrera, but things quickly fell apart from there.In the bottom of the 2nd, A.J. Burnett committed a costly error that extended the inning and eventually allowed Los Angeles to score 4 unearned runs. When Josh Hamilton led off the 3rd inning with a homer, the Tigers lead expanded to 5-2.
Both Burnett and Los Angeles starter John Lackey cruised from there, though, with neither team scoring another run through 8 innings. Leading by 3 in the 9th, Los Angeles called on Geoff Geary for the save.
Needless to say, it did not end up being Mr. Geary's evening. He walked 5 hitters, committed a balk, and mixed in a single as well. If not for a failed Jason Bartlett bunt that resulted in a pop-out double play, the Walkers might still be batting. Just the same, Fleetwood scored 5 runs and took a 7-5 lead. Following a scoreless frame by B.J. Ryan, the Walkers had earned a come-from-behind win.

Miguel Cabrera lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI as the
Fleetwood Walkers rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over Los
Angeles Tigers, 7 to 5.
Fleetwood had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning when they
scored 5 runs on 2 hits. The key at-bat was by Howie Kendrick who helped
quiet the crowd when he stroked a one-base hit plating two runs. Although
they lost, Los Angeles did out-hit Fleetwood 9 to 3.
A.J. Burnett(4-1) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 8 innings. B.J. Ryan
earned his 4th save. The losing pitcher was Geoff Geary(1-2) in relief.
After the game, it took a long while before Jim Budzyn emerged from his
office. In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood tonight, as
I think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a lot more
light-hearted over in the Fleetwood locker room.'
